Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing Company Limited, headquartered in Nnewi, Nigeria, is positioning itself as one of the pioneers in the production of electric vehicles in Nigeria alongside its counterparts Electric Motor Vehicle Company of Nigeria Limited and Roxettes Motors by introducing a range of electric vehicles.

Innoson’s range of electric vehicles is varied and tailored to different consumer needs. The Innoson IVM Link is a five-seater vehicle with a range of between 201 and 230 kilometres on a full charge, equipped with electric steering, front airbags, air conditioning and an advanced multimedia system.

On the other hand, the Innoson IVM EX02 stands out for its greater range, which ranges between 330 and 400 kilometres. This vehicle has additional features such as an automatic rearview mirror and remote control locking with sensors. On the other hand, the model offers a more economical version but with the same autonomy for those who want to enter the world of electric vehicles.

The Innoson IVM EX01, like the IVM Link, offers a similar range of 201 to 230 km. In addition, the model comes with a multimedia system, air conditioning and electric steering.

More than a car: a commitment to the environment

Innoson’s decision to invest in electric vehicles goes beyond a simple business strategy. The Nigerian company is deeply committed to sustainability and seeks to contribute to a cleaner and healthier future for Africa. Innoson’s electric vehicles do not emit polluting gases during operation, which significantly reduces the carbon footprint and improves air quality in cities.

Economic and maintenance advantages

In addition to the environmental benefits, Innoson EVs also offer a number of economic advantages. The cost of electricity is generally lower than that of fossil fuels, resulting in significant savings in running costs. In addition, EVs have very low maintenance costs, as they do not require oil changes, filters or lubricants. The absence of an internal combustion engine and conventional transmission dramatically reduces the breakdown rate, resulting in lower repair costs in the long run.

An electric future in Africa

Innoson is actively working to expand charging infrastructure in Nigeria and ensure that EV owners have access to a network of charging stations.

Beyond electricity

While Innoson has placed a strong emphasis on electric vehicles, the company also continues to offer vehicles with internal combustion engines, such as gasoline, diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) models. This versatility allows Innoson to adapt to different market needs and offer a wide range of options to its customers.

Innoson’s potential future

Innoson’s move into electric vehicles is a clear sign that Nigeria is ready to lead the sustainable mobility revolution. By investing in research and development, expanding its charging infrastructure and offering a range of electric vehicles tailored to the needs of the African market, Innoson is proving that the continent has a lot to offer in terms of innovation and technology.

Furthermore, Innoson’s entry into the EV market positions the manufacturer as a key player in the Nigerian automotive industry and as one of the leading vehicle producers in Nigeria. By developing and manufacturing EVs locally, Innoson is creating jobs, promoting technology transfer and strengthening the domestic supply chain. This initiative has the potential to boost industrialization in Africa and transform the continent into an EV production hub.
